To kick off Memorial Day weekend, Billboard's Taylor Ortega hit the streets to find out how well people know the lyrics to some iconic songs of the summer: Nelly's "Hot in Herre," Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" and Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber's "Despacito" remix.
Asked to complete the words to Nelly's 2002 classic that soundtracked all of our middle school dances, one contestant is unsure how to finish the lyric "And can't nobody stop the juice/So baby tell me," responding, "I only know how to take off my clothes."
Another participant, however, has an impressive memory, rapping the entire verse that follows, "So take it off like your home alone/You know dance in front your mirror while you're on the phone…"
Fast forwarding to 2012, when Carly Rae Jepsen sang her way into all of our hearts with "Call Me Maybe," there are a handful of correct guesses and one beautiful -- and impressive -- sing-along.
When it comes to the 2017 song of the summer and subsequent record-breaker, "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber, the bulk of contestants admit to only knowing the chorus. But there is one partaker who aces some of the Spanish lyrics.
