Nicky Jam & J Balvin's 'X' Hits No. 1 on Latin Airplay Chart

It's the eighth No. 1 for Nicky Jam, and the ninth for J Balvin. Plus: "Despacito' hits 52nd week at No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs.

Nicky Jam and J Balvin's "X" soars 7-1 on the Latin Airplay chart (dated April 28), in its seventh week on the tally. The dancehall and reggae-infused single rises 57 percent in audience impressions in the week ending April 22, according to Nielsen Music, growing to 14.5 million.

"X" is Nicky Jam's eighth No. 1, and the ninth leader for J Balvin.

"X" is the first taste of Nicky Jam's upcoming album, due this summer, and his second No. 1 of 2018. It follows his collaboration with Silvestre Dangond on "Casate Conmigo," which spent one week in the penthouse (Feb. 24). "X" concurrently reaches a new peak on the Latin Rhythm Songs airplay chart, lifting 4-1, after holding at No. 4 for three weeks.

On the overall Hot Latin Songs chart, which ranks the most popular Latin songs of the week by blending airplay, streams and sales, "X" is a non-mover at No. 2 for a fourth consecutive week (trailing Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito," featuring Justin Bieber – more on that song in a moment).

Ozuna Regains Top Latin Albums Crown: After Ozuna's Odisea dipped 1-2 on the Top Latin Albums chart (dated April 21) – when CNCO's self-titled sophomore set opened at No. 1 – Odisea returns to the top slot for its 33rd nonconsecutive week atop the list (10,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending April 19, down less than 1 percent). He extends his record for the longest-leading No. 1 by a male artist in the history of the chart.

Meanwhile, CNCO's self-titled set slips to No. 2 (3,000 units; down 80 percent).

Yandel Notches 16th Top 10 on Latin Pop Songs Airplay Chart: Meanwhile, Yandel picks up his 16th top 10 on the Latin Pop Songs airplay chart, as his single "Solo Mia," featuring Maluma, climbs 17-9 thanks to a 48 percent increase in plays at the format (in the week ending April 22).

'Despacito' Collects 52nd Week at No 1 on Hot Latin Songs: Back on the Hot Latin Songs chart, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito," featuring Justin Bieber spends a 52nd nonconsecutive week atop the tally. (It continues to hold the record for the most weeks at No. 1.)

Will "Despacito" rule the Hot Latin Songs chart next week? With the tight margin between the smash and Nicky Jam and J Balvin's "X" at No. 2, either title could claim the No. 1 slot next week. "X" continues to gain in airplay and streams, while "Despacito" declined in airplay, streams and sales on the latest chart.
