Martin Garrix opened up to fans in a recent video clip filmed on his hotel balcony in Mexico City. The young superstar producer and DJ took time out for an Ask Me Anything session, and fans truly left no subject out of the debate. From pizza to passion-fruit-flavored everything, we got to know the "Scared to Be Lonely" man's inner workings.
Turns out he thinks Skrillex "is a genius," he is officially dating someone, and he thinks the amount of food and refills American consume is out of control. He's working on his own online merch store, but he's not trying to rush the drop. "Good things take time," he says.
He loves traveling with his family on tour. He says having his fam around helps keep him humble, "makes me feel very normal and not do stupid shit." Turns out he invited his sister to come to Ultra Miami with him, and he was sad when she decided to go to work instead.
A couple fans asked about his recent Australian tour with Justin Bieber.
"Crazy," he says. "The fun thing about this tour is I have no idea what to expect. If I do a Martin Garrix headline show I know it will be lots of Garrix fans etc., but this time I was nervous like shit, it will only be lots of Bieber fans they're only waiting for Justin Bieber. I did the first song in Perth and the moment I dropped my first song, the energy the crowd gave us, it was super crazy. The entire tour was super fun, and maybe again in the future."
He spoke again about his shelved collaboration with Ed Sheeran: "I made the song with Ed two years ago and there was so much back and forth of when are we going to release it … that song is one big headache so I'd rather focus on new music and positive energy."
