Since Justin Bieber first broke onto the music scene in 2009 with his debut single "One Time" up through his 2017 "I'm The One" collab with DJ Khaled, he has released some pretty memorable music videos to accompany these tracks. Billboard decided to take a trip down memory lane to look at these visuals, and what better way to do that than with input from some comedic experts on everything Bieber?
"I think this is the first time anybody with braces has been featured in a music video," jokes Steve Hernandez of "One Time," while noting the peculiar abundance of pinwheels at the house party the video is set in.
Moving onto Bieber's big breakout hit "Baby," Caitlin Kimball points out Drake's cameo, explaining, "This is when he was starting to pop off and they were both like this Canadian export that music was just pushing."
In 2011's "Mistletoe," a talking point is Bieber's haircut, as Kimball says that the singer auctioned off his hair on eBay for $12,000 and it made "like 40 grand, and he gave it to a charity of his choosing, which was not listed when I looked up that fact, so I'm like – did he give it to a charity?"
When shown 2015's "What Do You Mean?," Kimball highlights the absurdity of bringing a girl to a party to instill terror in her, making her feel like she could die or be attacked. "Do not do this shit," she exclaims.
Fast forwarding to Bieber's 2017 collab with DJ Khaled, Quavo, Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne, Hernandez says of the "I'm the One" video: "This is who he is as a person…he tried to be a bad boy, he's not a bad boy, you know? I'll tell all big brown guys, you gotta get yourself a little white guy to hang out with. It makes you seem approachable, and for the little white guy you get credibility, so it's a win-win."
