Celebrities at Coachella!

HOLLYWOOD—Celebrities flocked to Coachella in Indio, California, which began on April 13 and ends on April 22. Musicians, as well as celebrities who were slated to perform in this year's lineup indulged in the weekend's festivities, which included lounges, late-night bashes and concerts. The star-studded event always includes Paris Hilton, stars from TV, film, sports and, of course, the music world.

Some of the music stars from the first weekend included Justin Bieber, who attended the festival over this past weekend. He was caught dancing by himself, posing for photos with internet sensation Mason Ramsey-also known as the young boy who stars in a viral video that showed him yodeling at Wal-Mart. More than 20 million views later and appearances on shows like Ellen DeGeneres Show-Mason was invited by Coachella to perform. Mason admitted he was bullied and mocked because of the video, but no doubt he got the last laugh when it turns out Justin Bieber is a fan.

Rihanna was there catching the Saturday performance of Beyonce. Beyonce reminded the crowd that she is the first black woman to headline the music festival. Throughout the two-hour set, Beyonce put on a show that honored, New Orleans, Houston, Brooklyn, Kingston, and Nigeria and the legacy of its dissenter, Fela Kuti. Beyonce was direct and purposeful about her influences. She used her platform to elevate and educate people about the culture that has inspired her. She was also joined on stage with hubby Jay-Z, along with Destiny's Child. Beyonce was due to headline Coachella last year, but pulled out due to the fact she was expecting with twins Rumi and Sir. Before attending Rihanna hosted an exclusive Fenty x Puma pool party earlier that day.

Being pregnant may have stopped Beyonce last year from performing, but it didn't stop Cardi B this year. The rapper, who confirmed her pregnancy earlier this month, ran through hits from her debut album "Invasion of Privacy." She was also joined by Chance the Rapper and G-Eazy during her set. Although the 28-year-old twerking was the moment most fans were gushing about online. Eminem closed out the first weekend of the festival last Sunday night. Em was joined on stage by 50 Cent, Dr Dre and Bebe Rexha.

Additional celebs that were spotted over weekend 1 included Leonardo DiCaprio, who was incognito in a blue hat and matching hoodie with shades, basketball stars Blake Griffin and Chandler Parsons, Shay Mitchell, Victoria Justice, Laverne Cox, Daniel Kaluuya, as well as "Stranger Things" stars Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton, who were seen at the Tao x Revolve Desert Nights party on the second night.

SZA brought out Trippie Redd and Kendrick Lamar during her brief set on Friday, which was filled with trampolines and video clips of Drew Barrymore that played while performing a song named after the "Santa Clarita Diet" star. K.Dot was another artist to partake in some stage-hopping over the course of the music fest. Vince Staples introduced the Grammy-winning rapper, as his surprise guest late Friday evening. Coachella resumes April 20-22 for Weekend 2 at Empire Polo Field in Indio, California.

Kendrick Lamar's "Damn," won this year's Pulitzer prize for Music, surprisingly defeating two works that fall under the broad umbrella of classical music, Michael Gilbertson's "Quartet" and Ted Hearne's "Sound from the Bench." "Damn," is the first non-classical or non-jazz recording to ever win the prize. Pulitzer-winning compositions are largely awarded on their merits as compositions-musicianship as craft. The prize jurors seemed to find value in the mechanics of Kendrick's storytelling, in his rapping technicality.

"Damn," was recognized as a "virtuosic song" collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life. Kendrick's win for rap recalls Wynton Marsalis first win for jazz, which was not until 1997, decades after jazz's pop-cultural peak.

Rose's Scoop: It's that time of year again, that we need that extra cup of coffee. The Tribeca Film Festival begins April 18 and runs through April 29.
