Best American Music Awards Performances No. 5: Justin Bieber Makes It Rain With 'Purpose' Hits ...

In honor of the 2017 American Music Awards, Billboard is counting down the best performances from the awards show's history. Here is No. 5.

Fresh off finding out that he landed his fourth Billboard 200 No. 1 album in a row with Purpose, Justin Bieber celebrated the milestone in a major way: closing out the 2015 AMAs. And with a position like that, of course the performance was nothing short of amazing.

The then 21-year-old Bieber started off his performance with a stripped-down version of "What Do You Mean?," accompanied only by an acoustic guitar as he crooned. But he quickly picked up the pace as he moved to a second stage to sing the collaboration of the year-winning "Where Are Ü Now?," during which he busted out some smooth choreography.

Then, to officially cap the night off, Bieber made his performance even more awe-inspiring as rain came pouring down over the stage and he splashed his way through "Sorry." While the energy Bieber brought on stage was enough to have viewers dancing along, the camera caught some familiar faces -- including Ariana Grande and Fifth Harmony -- dancing along, making it all the more enticing to do so at home.
