Two Qataris in the list of most influential business leaders in entertainment

Doha: Two Qataris have been named in the list of most influential global leaders in entertainment.
The American entertainment magazine Variety has listed Nasser Al Khulaifi and Fatima Al Remaihi in their 500 Most Influential Business Leaders in Entertainment list.
Chairman of PSG football club, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, is also the CEO of beIN Media Group, and is a globally known figure in the football and media field. He is credited with changing the media landscape of Middle East.
Fatma Al Remaihi, CEO of Doha Film Institute, is the main force behind the popular Doha's Ajal Youth Film Festival and Qumra, an unique Qumra event which blends festival, workshop, and international co-production market elements.
Variety 500 is an index of the 500 most influential business leaders shaping the global $2 trillion entertainment industry.
Updated annually, the Variety500 reflects the accomplishments of its members over the previous 12 months. They were selected by the Variety editorial board, which conducts extensive research for its selections.
The Variety500 list also include such luminaries like Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, Ben Affleck, founder of Pearl Street Films, Jennifer Lopez, CEO of Nuyorican Productions, Adele, D B Weiss, Co-Creator of Game of thrones, Dwayne Johnson, Jackie Chan, Justin Bieber, president of Bieber Time Films and Salman Khan, CEO Slamn Khan Productions.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi, a former professional tennis player and an advisor to Qatar's Emir HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Al-Khelaifi started his TV career in 2003 as Director of Rights Acquisitions of Al Jazeera Sport, when the channel was first launched.
In 2013, Al-Khelaifi oversaw the spinoff and rebranding of Al Jazeera Sport into beIN Sports, and became the beIN Media Group boss. BeIN Sports has 22 channels broadcast across the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, North America, Australia and Asia.
Since 2011, he has been Chairman and CEO of popular Qatari-owned Paris Saint-Germain football club. French sports daily L'Equipe in 2016 named him 'the most powerful man in French soccer.'
Fatma Al Remaihi heads the Doha Film Institute, which provides creative guidance and industry expertise to young directors and producers in the region.
A member of the DFI's team since 2009, Al Remaihi took the reins in 2014 after the government-funded entity, established to foster a film industry in Qatar, severed its ties with the Tribeca Film Institute and Hollywood companies and redefined its mission by devising a three-pronged strategy consisting of a film fund primarily for Arab movies; an international festival for local youths; and Qumra festival.
Now in its third edition, Qumra is becoming a formidable facilitator for new voices in Arab cinema, while the Doha Film Fund has supported a slew of prizewinning films from the region at large including Iran's 2017 foreign Oscar-winner "The Salesman."
Al Remaihi is also the founder of Doha's Ajal Youth Film Festival, based on Italy's Giffoni Experience model, where hundreds of kids are the jurors, and established a dedicated fund for supporting Qatari talent.
