The superstar DJ insisted JB has come a long way since his Baby days and is no longer that trouble-making teen.

Speaking after his blazing set at the Isle of Wight, David told me: "Justin's amazing his voice is completely insane and I have a lot of respect for his career because for such a young age he's already had two lives.

"And to reinvent himself the way he did, make some risky choices, very.

"We wanted it to mean something"

"He was the biggest teenage phenomenon and became the coolest credible pop artist in the world, it's incredible."

The pair teamed up on new single 2U but Guetta was in the dark about the collab until the last minute.

He revealed: "We have this common friend called Poubert, an amazing songwriter and very good friend of mine we always work together and Poubert made me a surprise – he played a song to Justin without saying and Justin loved it.

"He recorded it, then Poubert sent me his vocals like: 'Hey I have a surprise check out your emails.'"

The French DJ turns the big 50 in November and plans to party hard. He laughed: "I have plans, this is the one to celebrate, it's insane.

"It's really funny because when I started to be a club DJ I was 17 and the people I was playing for were 20- 25 and then I got to 25 and the people I was playing for were 25 and then I got to 40 and they were still 25!

"So the thing is I feel like I'm 25 forever because I'm surrounded by people who are 25." Well, you don't look a day older than 25, Guetta.

Jonas Blue is constantly hitting on Ellie Goulding.

The Fast Car hitmaker revealed he's been chasing after Ellie since the Brits back in February.

He told me: "The most starstruck I've been was meeting Ellie the first time – I've always wanted to work with her.

"I went up to her, sat down next to her at the Brits and was like: "So, can I get your number?"

"And yeah she was cool. Always cracking on to her, I'm terrible."

But he's yet to nail that collab, he added: "I spoke to her last week, we're just trying to make it work.

"She's in Ibiza this week, I was in Ibiza last week, our schedules just aren't working."

The British DJ's latest single Mama is out now but he teased an album "hopefully will be out later this year".

With their new album Everything Now on the way, Arcade Fire put on an impressive show as Saturday night headliners.

Their unique brand of psychedelic indie fuzz matched with a spectacular light show soothed and exalted festival revellers.

The Canadian indie rock band made sure to thank their most famous fan, the late David Bowie, in the middle of their epic set.

"We miss him everyday," said lead singer Win Butler.

It was Bowie who recommended them to festival organiser John Giddings.

With the events in the UK over the last few weeks it's hard to fully relax at a festival of such scale – the beefed-up security checks a constant reminder – but the band's warm and whimsical world transported you to another world for a few hours of welcome relief.

Hottest new rock band The Amazons had to plead with their record label to let them set their tour van on fire for their debut album cover.

The rockers were advised not to attempt the stunt but wanted something that was true rock and roll.

Matt Thomson told me: "The label tried to convince us out of it but it was the only thing we came up with and the only thing that felt right.

"We originally thought that's so stupid as we would never be allowed to do that but we did.

"We wanted it to mean something – we had just spent two years travelling in that little van that's about to die."

Trampolene frontman and Pete Doherty's guitarist Jack Jones once played George Michael a song down his telecom.

The Welsh rocker was so desperate to work with the late legend he turned up on his doorstep.

Speaking backstage at the Jack Daniel's Jack Rocks This Feeling Stage, he told me: "I found out where he lived and I had this great idea if I can write a hit record for George Michael I can use this to pay for my band's rehearsals.

NICE GUY: George Michael came bearing gifts for the unsuspecting Wham! fan

"So I went over to his big mansion in Highgate, there was a big gate with a telecom I said: 'Hi I'm Jack Jones I'm a songwriter from Wales I've written a song for George, can I play it?'

"It was really difficult because I had to hold the telecom down with my elbow – so I played the song and then the security guard came out and he had 40 packets of Golden Virginia on him and said: 'Have a packet of Golden Virginia mate.'

"They were nice but a bit wary of me."
