Drake Leading Nominee at 43rd Annual American Music Awards

Toronto rapper Drake is the leading nominee at the 43^rd annual American Music Awards.

Drake has 13 nominations, but has also made history by breaking Michael Jackson's record of 11 nominations in 1984.

Canadian Justin Bieber and Rhianna both have five nominations with Scarborough native The Weeknd nominated for Favorite Male Artist.

Performances include Lady Gaga, Sting, Nicki Minaj, Green Day, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, Maroon 5 featuring Kendrick Lamar and Pickering native Shawn Mendes.

The 2016 AMA's takes place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.
