Watch Justin Bieber Slowly Realize His Adoring Fans Paid to Hear Him Sing, Not Speak (Video)
Justin Bieber's relationship with his fans continued to deteriorate Thursday night in England where the pop star tried to share the emotional "purpose" of his tour, and then slowly realized they paid to see him sing, not speak.
"The reason that it's called 'The Purpose Tour' is because I believe everybody in this building has a purpose," he began his special speech over an arena of screaming fans in Manchester. "There's really no stipulations, you all have a purpose, and I just wanted to remind you, because sometimes we can forget, like, 'Why am I here? What's my purpose?' And sometimes it's like, 'Man, I don't even know what my purpose is.'"
He trailed off there and cleared his throat as fans continued to scream without giving him any silence for the moment he was apparently hoping to have. Then he began offering the mic to fans near the stage.
"You can talk if you want," Bieber said. "If you guys wanna take this moment and — I just thought I could have a moment of, you know, trying to say something. But if not, I'll just get to singing, if you don't want to hear me speak."
The crowd roared in response to Bieber's own suggestion to stop yapping, and start "cutting the bulls—."
"I don't need to talk, I'm just trying to engage, but if you guys don't want to do that, we can just play the music." Another roar of approval from the audience followed that remark.
Bieber then acknowledged singing is his "purpose." To his credit, he seemed to manage his frustration with loud, adoring fans better than a previous concert this week in Birmingham, England, where he scolded the crowd for being "obnoxious."
"I appreciate all the love, it's amazing. But can you show it in a different way?" Bieber asked. "Screaming is just so obnoxious."
"I get it, it's been in our blood and it's ingrained — you go to a concert and you scream and stuff, but if you could just scream after the song, enjoy the song … and then take a chill pill for a second and listen to me speak," he continued. "It gets a little frustrating."
6 Most Outlandish Online Petitions, From Jesse Williams to Piers Morgan (Photos)
After a Change.org petition to fire Jesse Williams from "Grey's Anatomy" went viral shortly following the actor's inspiring speech BET Awards speech last month, TheWrap takes a look at five other ridiculous online petitions.
Jesse Williams gave an incredibly moving acceptance speech at the 2016 BET Awards that received a lot of praise. The actor tackled police brutality with black men and the current racial climate of the U.S. Apparently, it wasn't too popular with some folks calling out the "Grey's Anatomy" actor for "hate speech" and hashtagging #alllivesmatter. The petition was only 315 people short of reaching its goal of 7,500 signatures at the time of this post.
It looks like not everyone is part of the Beyhive as disgruntled non-fans are petitioning to have Beyoncé and Jay Z arrested for wiring money to bail out Ferguson protesters. And of course, let's not forget her "offensive" Super Bowl halftime show.
Some people are apparently just getting tired of hearing the antiquated "Star Spangled Banner," and thought it would be appropriate to change the national anthem to R. Kelly's "Ignition (Remix)."
A group of non-Beliebers recently wanted to deport Justin Bieber and have his green card revoked. "He is not only threatening the safety of our people but he is also a terrible influence on our nation's youth," the campaign stated. The White House actually responded, but did not decide to take any action on the Canadian singer's immigration status.
U.S. citizens appear to be big on deportations, a petition was created to deport Piers Morgan for engaging in a "hostile attack" of the Second Amendment.
Some 49,890 people petitioned the White House to have President Obama impeached for disrespecting the Constitution and forcing everyone to get healthcare. The White House responded with a letter titled "The Short Answer is No, But Keep Reading."
