Bemused folk in Belmonte de Tajo – which has just 1,400 residents – literally couldn't belieber their luck at hosting such a huge concert on their doorstep.
There was a Twitter frenzy as word soon spread across Spain that the town – some 40 miles from the capital Madrid – would be welcoming the biggest pop star on the planet.
Bieber – currently playing London's O2 Arena as part of his Purpose Tour – will call at famous concert venues in Lisbon and Barcelona as he performs across Europe.
But the prospect of the Canadian hunk unexpectedly making an appearance to sing in sleepy Belmonte de Tajo was all too much for its residents.
Until they realised it was all a big mistake.
Town mayor Amador Salinas confirmed today (SAT) it was a gaffe but not before joining hundreds of Twitter users in mocking the mistake.

He told heartbroken Beliebers: "There are no parties planned for November here so we're not sure how to prepare for this event.
"I suppose we could always get the football stadium ready but we're a bit short of time."

He joked to Spanish daily El Mundo: "Justin has my telephone number because we did our military service together."
The error - which shows the teenage heart-throb is performing at a privately-owned semi-detached house - had yet to be corrected on the website this morning.
Fans browsing www.justinbiebermusic.com were offered the chance of buying VIP tickets for a November 23 performance at the Barclaycard Arena in Belmonte de Tajo, Spain - the name of Birmingham's sports and entertainment venue 2,300 miles away where the singer is bringing his Purpose World Tour on Monday and Tuesday.
To make matters worse, a link from the main entry posted an address for the concert venue which on Google Maps appears to be a privately-owned semi-detached house.

Pictures of the red-roofed home opposite a bus stop boasts a few plastic chairs and tables in the paved front garden - but nothing that would indicate the capacity to cater for thousands of screaming Beliebers.
Belmonte de Tajo, a one-hour bus ride south east of the Spanish capital includes a cosy three-bed 18th century B&B on its official town hall website accommodation listings.
A 'Where to Eat' section lists four bars and an ironmonger's and butcher's are listed as two of the six recommended places to visit in town.
Its main festivity is a typical Spanish annual festival in which bulls are let loose to chase revellers Pamplona-style.
Town hall officials admitted they had been bombarded with phone calls after the gaffe.
One local, struggling to keep a straight face, said: "If Justin really wants to come here, we've got a small municipal centre he could use.
"But thousands of people are going to descend on the town if he does end up here and I think so many Beliebers in such a small space could be dangerous."

Tuesday, 16th August 2016Farmer Manuel Gutierrez added: "I'd consider going to see Justin but I think I prefer the local music scene."
The gaffe has even led to speculation a hacker from Belmonte de Tajo may have been behind it in a bid to put the small town's name on the international map.
Isabel Castillo teased on Twitter: "Justin Bieber show in Belmonte de Tajo. Wow! If they bring good singers in towns of 1,591 inhabitants, it is where the money is."
Another fan tweeted: "I can't help it. I'm wetting myself with the news."
The mistake hasn't stopped a sell-out at the Barclaycard Center in Madrid, where Justin is actually playing on November 23.
It was not clear today (SAT) when the high-profile gaffe would be corrected.
Guess you could say Justin is Sorry.
