Jumping into the fray. Justin Bieber's ex-girlfriend Hailey Baldwin may have weighed in on the "Sorry" singer's Instagram spat with his other ex Selena Gomez.
On Sunday, August 14, the "What Do You Mean?" singer posted a message asking fans to stop the negative comments toward his new girlfriend, Sofia Richie. Gomez chimed in and reportedly said, "If you can't handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend," so Bieber replied, "It's funny to see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way." Then, the singer-actress called out Bieber for "pointing the finger at the ones that were forgiving and supportive."
As Bieber, 22, and Gomez, 24, were sparring back and forth — and allegedly accusing each other of cheating — the 19-year-old model Baldwin posted a since-deleted lengthy, cryptic quote on her own Instagram about owning up to mistakes and not pointing the finger at others.
"We've all had our fair share of things we've done, both good and bad. What makes the present so powerful is when we take complete responsibility for our actions, we allow ourselves self-growth," the quote read. "Misplacing the blame onto someone else isn't going to get you to the next stage in life, so try not to manipulate a situation to make yourself look better."
It seems that Baldwin may be Team Selena after fans pointed out that Bieber unfollowed Baldwin, whose dad is actor Stephen Baldwin, on Friday, August 12. A day later, the beauty unfollowed her ex as well.
"The truth always come[s] to light, so it's better just to own it," the model's quote continued. "We're all guilty of things, but show people you have enough love and respect for yourself to be honest about it and learn from it."
Baldwin later clarified on Twitter that her since-deleted Instagram post was meant to be about "everyday life in general," not Bieber or his alleged spat with Gomez.
The model officially started dating Bieber in January after she joined his family vacation to Anguilla, and the pop star posted a pic of the pair making out. In a GQ interview, he called Baldwin "someone I really love," but their romantic dalliance seemed to have been short-lived. By early February, Baldwin said, "We are not an exclusive couple." Despite their split, they've both always maintained that they're good friends.
