Magnanimous in victory, that seems to be the mantra of 23-year-old songstress Selena Gomez when she was officially lauded for having the most liked photo on Instagram, the photo-sharing social media app.
Ironically, she actually beat Justin Bieber for the honor when her photo showing her sipping from a classic Coca-Cola bottle while having her red, ribbed top, and bombshell curls got 4.1 million likes and still growing.
That is more than 400,000 likes than the image shared by her former boyfriend Justin Bieber back in March this year, where he and Selena Gomez were shown kissing in an ocean, which generated 3.7 million likes.
Running at a close third, which was the erstwhile most-liked photo on Instagram until Justin Bieber's image dislodged it this June, is the bathroom selfie of supermodel Kendall Jenner which she posted in May 2015, reports Us Weekly.
Kendall's photo showed herself lying on the floor in a sheer dress with her hair curled into hearts. It was the most-liked photo on Instagram for 13 months and is currently 100,000 likes behind the Bieb's image with 3.6 million thumbs up signs.
Not her goal
Incidentally, having the most-liked photo on Instagram is only the second distinction that Selena Gomez got from the social media app.
She is officially the most followed person on Instagram with 89.2 million followers.
In a recent interview, Selena said that it is not her goal to be the most followed person on Instagram because she always tries to find a good balance by just being 100% herself and knowing when to post a really good selfie with good lighting.
She said that with the 4.1 million likes on her posted image, she said that what she is doing is obviously working.
The "Good for You" singer has been the top dog on Instagram for quite some time, having amassed 89 million followers with her combination of professional shots and candid, behind-the-scenes snaps, notes Refinery 29.
No method to the madness
When asked if she has a certain method in posting images on Instagram, Selena said that she does not have a specific method to the madness.
She added that it comes in a moment when she captures something happening and she goes on to say that would be great for Instagram and she posts it. She went on to say that she knows her style is boring or traditional but that's what she does.
Selena went on to say that she has no objective of becoming the most popular person on Instagram but she admits that the social media app is her favorite platform.
Incidentally, despite being linked to numerous guys since late last year, Selena Gomez has uncharacteristically remained single.
According to a source close to the 23-year-old songstress, she is still in love with her former flame Justin Bieber and reportedly wants to give their relationship another go.
That is why the "Good for You" singer got disappointed to find out that Justin Bieber has rekindled his May-December romance with reality star Kourtney Kardashian.
However, all these remain as speculations pending the official confirmation from Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber. The "Sorry" singer seems to hardly care what's going on with "The Heart Wants What it Wants" songstress.
Selena Gomez is just coming off a major grief with the death of her dear friend Christina Grimmie, who is also a friend of Justin.
