Yash and debutante Sanjana say namaste London for Fidaa

Yash Dasgupta and debutante actress Sanjana Banerjee take a break while shooting for the film Fidaa, directed by Pathikrit Basu, in London. A love story, Fidaa releases on June 15. Yash soaked in the sights and sounds of London for the first time. He reached London five-six days before the shoot of Fidaa, and was in for a surprise. "It was cold, windy, and raining constantly. And then miraculously the sun came out as the shoot started. The change was so drastic. I was there for 15 days. We would shoot from 7am to 8pm. On some days we would finish by 4pm. The weather was so good that even after a long shoot, we wouldn't feel drained. We would go to restaurants after pack-up and party on Fridays and Saturdays. We found a nice place, Talli Joe, and we really enjoyed the Golbarir Mangsho. It was really good," said Yash. 

"I went to Oxford Street one day and really splurged," said Sanjana, who was visiting London for the second time. 

Yash (not in picture) and Sanjana had a blast shooting on the streets and watching the musicians busking. "We shot with them. People were painting on the street. The streets were teeming with people involved in different kinds of activities. And they love to keep the city clean," said Yash. 

Sanjana even got to match steps to the music one day. "At first I thought they were pranking when the shoot team asked me to dance to the music. But they were serious, so I asked a musician to play Justin Bieber's Love Yourself. I love to dance and I don't have inhibitions when it comes to dancing. The music videos are going to be a visual treat. The musicians were amazing," said Sanjana, who was born in Muscat.

The team shot around central London. "London was really crucial to the plot of the film. Khushi (Sanjana) was born in London, grew up in Calcutta and then goes back to London. Ishan (Yash) goes to London for his studies, so the second half of the film is set there," said Yash. 

Yash made friends with two St. Bernards. "They were so huge many people wouldn't go near them. I fed them Indian food and they were super happy," said Yash. 

Yash plays an architect in the love story, and this scene took him back to his childhood days. "I loved to paint. Even now, when I get the time, I try to sketch and paint. It acts as a stress-buster. I have done both landscapes and portraits," he said.
