Selena Gomez's Mother Mandy Teefey Admits To 'Yelling And Freaking Out' During Transplant ...

In recent months, Selena Gomez and her mother Mandy Teefey have endured something of a tumultuous relationship, as a result of the singer's reconciliation with on/off boyfriend Justin Bieber.

However, nothing can compare to the heartbreak the 42-year-old experienced during her daughter's kidney transplant last year.

Months after Gomez and her BFF/donor, Francia Raisa, opened up about their operations (both suffered complications and mental health issues as a result), the singer's mother has come forward to explain how she was affected by the ordeal.

Teeny told Entertainment Tonight: 'That was probably one of the hardest things to ever experience as a parent, and especially when there were complications, and it was just me and her, and she had to go in.'

'I was not only carrying the weight first as the mother, but I also felt the weight for Francia and her mother and her family.

'I think I'm banned from Cedars [Medical Centre]. I went to both sides of the towers. For some reason they were in different towers, and every little thing, I was monitoring, like, yelling and freaking out.

'It was pretty rough. God bless any of the families that have kids with ongoing illnesses because the strength that those families have is insane.'

Last summer, the 'Bad Liar' singer took to Instagram to tell her fans that she underwent a kidney transplant as a result of her Lupus diagnosis six years ago.

Months later, Raisa revealed both she and Selena has suffered depression following their surgeries, which was 'very hard'.

'It was rough for a couple of months. I am used to not being active. I am very active,' she admitted in an interview for SELF magazine.

Teefey - who is an executive producer alongside her daughter on Netflix's 13 Reasons Why - also gushed about Francia and Raisa's strong friendship.

She recalled: 'She was one of the first people that was not part of the [Disney] channel that introduced herself to Selena and made her feel comfortable at the Teen Choice Awards…

'She walked up and she introduced herself. She was on that ABC show and she was already established and everything, and she just walked up to Selena and gave her a hug and made her feel welcome, and that resonated with me, because it's such a tough industry and you don't really get that a lot.'

In November, Gomez thanked Raisa for her selfless act. 'Thankfully, one of my best friends gave me her kidney and it was the ultimate gift of life,' she gushed during her speech at at the Lupus Research Alliance's Breaking Through Gala in New York City. 'And I am doing quite well now.'

We're glad both Teefey, Gomez and Raisa have recovered from their traumatic experience.
