FTC Probe Sought On Video App's Kid Privacy Policies

Law360 (April 26, 2018, 9:26 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission has been asked to review the children's privacy policies for the Musical.ly video-sharing app after its operator reportedly refused to comply with recommendations issued by an advertising industry self-regulatory organization.

The Children's Advertising Review Unit said Tuesday that it asked the FTC to look into The Musical.ly Inc.'s privacy policies for kids under 13 who use its social-networking app, which allows users to create, share and view videos, including clips made by celebrities popular among children like Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber....
