Singer Armaan Malik does not want to be known as "just a Bollywood singer". The 22-year-old says that he wants people to know that he sings for regional films, and also releases music independently. And if all that isn't enough, he also takes up popular international hits, and interprets them on his own. In a conversation with us, Armaan reveals he is working on his rendition of Ed Sheeran's popular hit, Shape of You.

Shape of You is not the only cover Armaan has attempted. Last year, the singer released a cover of Justin Bieber's popular hit, Sorry. "I have a dream of writing music in English. I have a lot of material as well. But before I do that, I want to have a wider audience. That's why I am attempting covers of popular classics such as these," he says.

But, I am more than that. I have already made a lot of [independent] music. I don't want those ideas to get wasted. That's why I think I still need to become bigger. I want to be known as a singer and not just a Bollywood singer," he says.
He is also working on a song with his father, music composer Daboo Malik. " I think I am revealing it all (laughs). But, yes, I am working on a song with him. It's got his touch. It's a difficult song, but it's a special project because it involves him," he adds.
