The Mirror reports that Justin Bieber is rumored to star in a reboot of the Goal! film series with Clint Eastwood and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo. The film reportedly has a budget of over 100 million and will feature other famous soccer players. Bieber would play a young player from Los Angeles who becomes an overnight sensation with the world's most famous team.
The film is reportedly backed by Harvey Weinstein and begins shooting in March 2017 at the Bernabeu stadium during actual matches. It follows the Goal films made between 2005 and 2009. Producer Mike Jeffries will return for the reboot. It's believed that David Beckham may play himself after appearing in the 2005 and 2007 Goal and Goal II: Living the Dream.
A source said: "The film is well into the pre-production stages and the hope is that Bieber will sign on in the coming weeks. It is a great opportunity for him and could be one of the biggest films of 2017 if all of his fans and the fans of Ronaldo go to the cinema."
Bieber loves football and trained with Barcelone and Chelsea in the past. He wants to do his own soccer scenes in the film. Barcelone's website previously said he showed "surprisingly decent skills with his left foot". The new film will reportedly be released on December 25, 2017, before the summer's World Cup in Russia.
Clint Eastwood will be approached to play Bieber's grandfather as he tries to prove himself to Ronaldo (who will play himself).
