Bieber and Gomez dated from 2010 to 2013. He is now reportedly dating Sofia Richie, the 17 year-old daughter of Lionel Richie.
After posting a series of selfies with Richie to Instagram, Bieber threatened to make his account private unless fans stopped sending hateful messages.
"I'm gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don't stop the hate, this is getting out of hand," he wrote, adding: "If you guys are really fans you wouldn't be so mean to people that I like."

Don't be mad at your fans. They love and supported you before any one ever did".
Bieber soon hit back at Gomez, writing: "It's funny to see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way. Sad. All love."

Bieber has made headlines with his icy behaviour towards fans in recent times, recently telling a fan that he didn't want their "shit" gift during a gig, while also rejecting a fan's attempt to hug him. He has also stopped doing fan meet-and-greets, calling them "depressing".
