Justin Bieber skipped the MTV Video Music Awards for a little South of the border canoodling with girlfriend Sofia Richie.

The new couple jetted to Cabo, Mexico, to celebrate Richie's 18th birthday, and share a little PDA.

Bieber, 22, and Richie had a beachside make out session, Saturday, hugging and cuddling in a private cabana. Richie had on high-waisted bikini bottoms and a black top, while Bieber sported pink swim trunks.

Bieber and Richie arrived in Mexico via a private jet on Friday, a source tells PEOPLE. After an ATV riding trip on Sunday, the pair hopped aboard a yacht for a little ocean breeze on Monday.

Last week, Bieber and Richie rang in her 18th year at West Hollywood's Doheny Room, partying at the lounge before heading out together just after 1 a.m.

Richie, the daughter of singer Lionel Richie and Diana Alexander Richie, have traveled together before. Shortly after going public, the pair jetted to Japan, where Bieber had two Purpose World Tour shows.
