He hasn't released a new album since 2015, and while that surely has his fans becoming impatient for another full-length from one of the most popular pop singers on the planet, the lack of new singles has helped Justin Bieber's last round of radio favorites perform extremely well on Spotify, and now he's joined with another famous male pop crooner in a tiny, but growing, club.

Justin Bieber has now become just the second musician to see more than one song blow past one billion plays on Spotify, the world's most popular streaming platform. Only recently, the Biebs got to see his song "Love Yourself" inch past the nine-digit mark. In doing so, the former No. 1 tune joined the single that preceded it from his last album Purpose, "Sorry," which was his first to earn a billion clicks and the fifth song overall.

Both "Sorry" and "Love Yourself" were spun off his 2015 chart-topping album Purpose, which ended up becoming perhaps the singer's most successful release yet. The two took turns owning the Hot 100, and he actually replaced himself at the peak of the all-encompassing singles tally, which is extremely rare.

Ed Sheeran was the first musician to see more than one of his singles pass one billion streams, which he managed just a few days before last year came to an end. His 2017 single "Shape of You," which debuted at No. 1 and went on to lead for a dozen nonconsecutive frames, was his first (which isn't too surprising given the warm reception it received upon arrival), and it was followed by his syrupy-sweet love song "Thinking Out Loud," which stalled just one rung shy of being a chart-topper for the British singer-songwriter.

While Spotify has become the go-to platform for tens of millions of people to access the songs they love, it remains impressive for any track to hit one billion plays, though the accomplishment lessens slightly with every new song that does so. "Love Yourself" is the sixth upload to do so, and very soon, it will be joined by another hit single and then another and another. Soon, the real accomplishment will be which beloved piece of music can hit two billion spins, which still seems a little ways off at the moment.
