A story claiming Justin Bieber is "desperate to show" Selena Gomez's mom "he's changed" is made-up. While the superstar does hope to gain Mandy Teefey's approval one day, the specific claims in this report are manufactured and largely inaccurate. Gossip Cop can bust it.
According to HollywoodLife, Bieber has a "plan in play to get back" in Teefey's "good graces" and it's "already underway." He's spent the last few days on vacation with his own mom, Pattie Mallette, which a so-called "insider" claims is a trip to "demonstrate to Mandy how important family is to him." This supposed source maintains "it serves as a display of what he's hoping Selena can achieve with her mother someday," and that Bieber "wants to show Mandy that he has matured immensely."
The website also asserts that "Justin and Patti have drifted apart in their own right over the years, but are bonding in 'paradise' on their trip." You'll notice that Mallette's first name is misspelled in that sentence, as it is repeatedly throughout the blog's entire article. Why should anyone believe the outlet has genuine insight when it can't even correctly spell the names of the people about whom they're writing?
It's also wrong to make it seem like Bieber and his mom have only recently repaired their relationship. That's not true. While there was a rift for a short time in 2013-2014, mother and son have been talking regularly again since 2015. Bieber and Mallette even adorably went for pedicures together in 2016, and just last month, Bieber joined his mom at a benefit gala. They aren't all of a sudden spending time together and any time they do share has nothing to do with Teefey.
It seems likely HollywoodLies, as it's nicknamed, was inspired to concoct this narrative because on Thursday, Mallette posted an Instagram tribute to her famous son. Alongside a photo from their trip, she praised him for his growth and maturity. While the timing of her post may seem suspect given that Teefey has questioned whether Bieber has changed at all over the years, its writing was not intended to be a message to Gomez's mom nor is it evidence that the purpose of the trip was to impress Teefey.
Mallette and Bieber's vacation has nothing to do with Teefey and Gomez, period. And while it's true he hopes relations between everyone involved improve or continue to improve, no one legitimately connected to the performer is discussing such matters, or any matters at all, with this website. HollywoodLies, after all, is the online publication Bieber publicly branded as "garbage."
