Justin Bieber Sends Heartfelt Message to His 'Daddy': 'Relationships Are Worth Fighting For'

It might not be Father's Day, but Justin Bieber's dad is on his mind.

The 23-year-old sent Jeremy Bieber, an emotional message on Instagram, Tuesday, alongside a photo of the father-son duo taken from behind.

"I love continuing to get to know my father," wrote the pop star. "I love working through hard things to get to the good things."

Continued Justin, "Relationships are worth fighting for especially with family!! Love you forever and always daddy!"

Justin's relationship with Jeremy, 42, has had its ups and downs. As the singer has detailed in previous interviews, Jeremy was only 18 when Pattie Mallette, then 17, gave birth to Justin in 1994. The pair were never married, and split shortly after Justin arrived, according to a Nov. 2015 Billboard interview.

Jeremy was "not in a place where he could raise a kid," Justin told Billboard, noting that his dad left "for like a year" when he was 4, and mom Mallette was his primary caregiver.

"I remember my mom said, 'If you're going to be here, you have to be here.' There's a misconception that he's this deadbeat dad, but he has been in my life since," asserted Justin. "I was with him on weekends and Wednesdays."

The next year, in an interview with GQ, Justin said that after a falling out with his mom in 2014 he was "a lot closer to my dad than I am to my mom." Part of that distance, he asserted, was physical. The duo reconciled, but Mallette, now 42, lives in Hawaii.

Justin's relationship with his dad isn't the only one he's focused on, lately: he has reunited with ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez.

Opening up about the rekindled romance to Billboard, Gomez said, "I'm 25. I'm not 18, or 19, or 20." She added, "I cherish people who have really impacted my life. So maybe before, it could have been forcing something that wasn't right. But that doesn't mean caring for someone ever goes away."
