BTS, Camila Cabello, and Justin Bieber Are Among the Most Tweeted-About Celebrities of 2017

Think back to all of those times over the past year when your Twitter feed blew up with excited tweets about BTS. According to Twitter, that wasn't just happening on your feed — it was happening all over the world, all year long.

The social media platform unveiled the "Year on Twitter 2017" data on Tuesday, and revealed that BTS, the world's favorite K-pop boy band, was the most tweeted-about celebrity of the year. The seven-member group also reportedly helped make the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, where they won Top Social Artist, one of the top three most tweeted-about global televised events of the year.

Second on the list is another K-pop squad, SVT, followed by Camila Cabello, Justin Bieber, and Filipino actress Maine Mendoza. Rounding out the top 10 are two former members of One Direction (Niall Horan and Harry Styles), both Dolan twins, and, of course, yet another South Korean boy band, Monsta X.

Twitter also released a list of the most tweeted-about musicians within the U.S. Once again, BTS is on top, and Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Justin Bieber are also still on the list. The rest of this America-specific list of performers includes Nicki Minaj, Chance the Rapper, Fifth Harmony (not Camila), Shawn Mendes, Rihanna, and Ariana Grande, whose heartbroken tweet after the bombing at her Manchester concert in May was among the most-retweeted and -liked posts of the year.

And while only two of the top 10 most hashtagged songs of the year came from the musicians on the two lists — "Hey Ma" by Pitbull and J Balvin and Fifth Harmony's "Work From Home," which both feature Camila Cabello, and JBiebs's "Love Yourself" — several of them came from K-pop groups. EXO's "Kokobop" topped the rankings, and GOT7's "You Are" and "Never Ever" were also on the list. Latin American boy band CNCO also had two songs in the running, "Reggaetón Lento" and "Hey DJ."

If the past year's tweets are any indication, prepare for boy bands with ridiculously catchy songs and perfectly choreographed music videos to completely take over the world in 2018.
