A Welsh teenager has been found guilty of plotting a terror attack on the day of a Justin Bieber concert this year.

As NME reports, the 17-year-old male was detained by police on 30 June, the same day Bieber's concert was to take place at Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

Birmingham crown court heard that the teenager's online search history found details about the event's security procedures, while a copy of the concert poster was also saved on his computer.

Police reportedly found a claw hammer, kitchen knife and note declaring himself "a soldier of the Islamic State" while searching his home.

While the teenager denied the charges, saying he "never thought about actually" carrying out an attack, Sue Hemming of the Crown Prosecution Service, said, "This teenager's behaviour over many months leaves no doubt that he intended to kill and maim as many people as possible".

The teenager has since been diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder, however the court heard this would not have affected his ability to make decisions.

He will remain in custody before appearing at a sentencing hearing on 10 January next year.
