The 2017 American Music Award nominations were announced on Thursday morning.
Singer Ciara rolled out the the first few nominations. More nods will be announced at 10:30 AM ET.
Several male artists such as The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar and Chris Martin were named, but the most interesting category is Best Female Pop/Rock artist with Rihanna and Lady Gaga going head-to-head with Alessia Cara.

Artist Of The Year was dominated by men with not one woman listed.
The nominees are Bruno Mars, The Chainsmokers, Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Ed Sheeran.
Best Pop/Rock album also went to the men: Bruno Mars – 24K Magic, Drake –More Life, and The Weeknd – Starboy.
Best Pop/Rock duo went to The Chainsmokers, Coldplay and Imagine Dragons.
The Best Pop Rock song category included Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee ft. Justin Bieber – Despacito, Ed Sheeran – Shape of You, and The Chainsmokers ft. Halsey – Closer.
The AMAs are set to air on ABC on November 19.
