MANILA, Philippines — The Superbowl Halftime show will feature a returning performer.
Us Weekly reported that Justin Timberlake is close to securing the 52nd NFL championship halftime performance in Minneapolis on February 4.
A source said the 36-year-old Timberlake will take the stage as a solo performer and that a collab with rapper Jay-Z is not clear.
"As of right now, it will just be Justin -- no surprise performers," the unnamed source said.
Timberlake will follow Lady Gaga, who also performed the show solo. Past performers include Coldplay, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Beyonce.
The former NSYNC frontman will return to the halftime stage show 13 years after his infamous "nipplegate" scandal with Janet Jackson.
The performance became controversial when Timberlake pulled Jackson's top down and revealed the latter's breast on national TV.
Both performers denied that it was a publicity stunt, sayint it was a wardrobe malfunction. The NFL imposed a five-second delay on succeeding performances because of the incident.
Other performers rumored to headline the 52nd show are Adele, Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Taylor Swift.
