BOCA RATON — Local girl and Boca Raton-native Ariana Grande showed the love at the One Love Manchester concert, a star-studded fundraiser for the those affected by the Manchester terror attack.
A coterie of A-listers including Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Pharrell Williams, and Katy Perry turned out to pay homage to the 22 killed and the more than 100 injured at an Ariana Grande concert on May 22.
Today's concert went on despite another terror attack in London that killed seven.
The three and a half hour event was streamed live, and 53 million people watched it on Facebook.
It was a powerful show of unity and the best of what music can do in troubled times.
Grande sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Bieber had the crowd chanting "love," and Grande and Cyrus sang Crowded House's Don't Dream It's Over.
Katy Perry said: "Love conquers fear and love conquers hate. And this love that you choose will give you strength, and it's our greatest power."
It was a full-on inspirational tear jerker.
Other artists who couldn't be there like Sir Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Demi Lovato, Rita Ora and Sean Paul paid tribute in videos played at the concert.
According to Facebook, $344,180 was raised for the Entertainment Industry Foundation.
That local girl done good, it just took some time.
