The organisers of the Justin Bieber concert on May 10 are feeling the heat, two weeks after the pop star's performance in Navi Mumbai, and it has nothing to do with his lip syncing. While permission had been taken for 34,529 spectators, when a special squad of the entertainment branch went to the venue on the evening of the concert, they found 7,272 more spectators there.
For this violation, the organisers have been asked to pay an additional duty of Rs 92.5 lakh and a penalty of Rs 1.85 crore.
According to the notice, the VVIP 1 and VVIP 2 sections, which were supposed to have 93 and 86 people respectively, were packed with 150 people each.
The VVIP 3 section, which was supposed to hold 518 people, had 900 people.
Apart from the extra spectators, no duty was paid or details provided about the dozens of sponsors at the event.
An assistant entertainment duty offi cer said that the organisers were given a 10-day period to to provide the details and pay full duty. As the deadline ended on Saturday, the notice was issued on Monday.
S Arjun collected the notice on behalf of the organiser. Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Arjun said his superiors would take a decision on the issue of payment.
