The singer has had many wild night outs in Japan with the Love Yourself hitmaker

ED Sheeran has admitted that he whacked Justin Bieber in the cheek with a golf club while he was"hammered" in Japan.

Unlike other altercations with fellow celebs (i.e. Orlando Bloom), this was a complete accident.

Speaking to the Guardian, the Shape of You hitmaker said: "We were in Japan. We'd been out to a dive bar. He just drank water and I got hammered. Then we went to a golf course, and he lay on the floor and put a golf ball in his mouth and told me to hit it out of his mouth. I was like, 'F**, I need to aim this properly,' and I swung. "

Unsurprisingly this did not go well. Ed, 26, sheepishly revealed: "And you know in films when someone gets punched, and you hear that fake sound, like a slap? But in real life when someone gets punched, you hear that dull thud, a bit sickening? I heard a sound like the last one, and saw his security guard looking at me."

He added: "I'd cracked Justin Bieber right in the cheek with a golf club. That was one of those 'What the f***?' moments."

The pair have been enjoying a number of wild nights in Tokyo – one of which saw them debut their smash hit Love Yourself at a karaoke bar as they downed shots.

Last month The Sun revealed that Ed and Justin, 23, shocked Japanese locals by performing their No1 hit together for the first time ever.

Discussing Justin's song Love Yourself, which Ed himself wrote, he revealed: "I quite like that that song is just having its own life somewhere.
"Me and Justin actually sung that on karaoke together two days ago.

"He was in Tokyo. It was a really weird night actually, a really weird night.

"We went to a bar called Train Bar and did some shots, then we went to a karaoke bar and sung our own song.

"He was singing my songs, so I was singing his songs… and then we both sang Love Yourself."

Smash single Love Yourself, included on Justin's 2015 album Purpose, became the Canadian's third consecutive number one and spent 24 weeks in the top ten.
