There's no denying that 2016 has been a pretty bumper year for music – but just which song sold the most copies?

Well Nielsen Music have just released the list of the 15 biggest-selling songs of 2016 (based on US sales), and there's some pretty familiar hits in there, from the likes of Fifth Harmony and Justin Bieber through to Sean Paul and Rihanna.

But who's picked up the coveted number one spot? And just how many copies of their song did they shift?

Let's take a look at the top 15…

15 Cake By The Ocean – DCNE

Joe Jonas' new band kicked off their career with just under 1.4m sales of this catchy little number.

14 Fifth Harmony – Work From Home

The quintet might have had a rough ride in recent days with the departure of Camilla Cabello, but let's focus on their music for now, and specifically this track with Ty Dolla Sign which notched up sales of 1.425m.

13 Desiigner – Panda

Brooklyn rapper Desiigner fared pretty well with this effort – 1.5m worth of sales well, in fact.

12 Mike Posner – I Took A Pill In Ibiza

This gentle guitar number got itself a remix, topped charts all over the world, and scored sales of 1.5m in the process.

11 twenty one pilots – Heathens

The US duo appeared on the Suicide Squad soundtrack with this song, which has shifted 1.6m copies so far.

10 Sia ft Sean Paul – Cheap Thrills

The Chandelier singer came back with this track in 2016 – nabbing sales of 1.6m for her troubles.

9 Rihanna ft Drake – Work

Work, work, work, work, work – Rihanna and Drake worked their way to 1.7m sales of this one.

8 The Chainsmokers ft Daya – Don't Let Me Down

First of two tracks in the top ten for the DJ duo, this catchy little number weighed in with sales of 1.76m.

7 Justin Bieber – Love Yourself

This one was floating around in late 2015, but was still popular in 2016 with sales of 1.8m.

6 twenty one pilots – Stressed Out

The second track in the list for the increasingly popular duo, this was released in 2015 but scored sales of 1.839m this year.

5 Drake ft Kyla and Wizkid – One Dance

No surprise to see this one feature highly, given the 15 weeks it spent at number one in the UK over the summer – and sales of 1.9m in the bag.

4 Lukas Graham – 7 Years

We can't resist a little singalong to this one – and nor can 2m others who bought it, it seems.

3 The Chainsmokers ft Halsey – Closer

The DJ duo's second appearance in the list kicks off the top 3 – with 2.1m units shifted.

2 My House – Flo Rida

The rap star is your runner-up in the 2016 countdown, with his track – another veteran of 2015 – shifting a massive 2.2m copies this year. But he couldn't quite beat…

1 Can't Stop The Feeling – Justin Timberlake

And so we come to the biggest song of 2016 – Justin's Grammy-nominated song from the Trolls soundtrack – which he first performed live at Eurovision 2016, of all places – scored a whopping 2.4m worth of sales. Clearly none of us can stop the feeling…
