Aussie surfer Sabre Norris may have a future career as a comedian, as she left quite an impression on Ellen DeGeneres after she headed to the U.S. to appear on her chat show.

The 11-year-old Newcastle native - who won last month's Sydney International Women's Pro - told the host: "My mum said I had zero chance of getting on the Ellen show and I'm on the Ellen show."

Sabre spoke about her wish to spend all the money she's earned from surfing on doughnuts, causing the host to start giggling.

"I wanted to spend all of my money on doughnuts are winning," she said.

"I gave $100 to my sister, $100 to my brother and $100 to my other sister, so I've only got $200 left.

"But I want to get an American pair of socks to remind me of my time here."

The energetic pre-teen then revealed she wants to go to Las Vegas because she's heard about the buffets.

"I would die to go to Las Vegas," she admitted. "There must be a buffet in every hotel. You can get Krispy Kreme doughnuts for breakfast and lava cake for breakfast and crab legs for breakfast.

"When I win a world title and I'm rich, I'm gonna go there to celebrate and I'm gonna eat whatever I want for breakfast, lunch and dinner.'"

So when Ellen told Sabre she was flying her to Las Vegas, as well as give her $500 and tickets to see Justin Bieber, she jumped up and began shrieking.

"Oh my gosh," sabre screamed. "I've got a cardboard cut out of Justin Bieber, which I kiss."

Last month, Ellen was awarded a Medal of Freedom by Barack Obama at the White House and she was unable to stop the tears streaming down her face.

"In a career spanning three decades, Ellen DeGeneres has lifted our spirits and brought joy to our lives as a standup comic, actor and television star," the announcer said as President Obama placed the medal around her neck.

"In every role, she reminds us to be kind to one another and to treat people as each of us wants to be treated."

"At a pivotal moment, her courage and candour helped change the hearts and minds of millions of Americans, accelerating our nation's constant drive for equality and acceptance for all. Again and again, Ellen DeGeneres has shown us that a single individual can make the world a more fun, more open, more loving place, so long as we just keep swimming."

There was a moment when Ellen may not have been physically able to receive the prestigious award.

She found out the hard way that White House security really don't mess around when she realised she didn't have a photo ID on her.

"They haven't let me into the White House yet because I forgot my ID," the comedian tweeted. "Not joking."

About an hour later she was allowed to enter, and that's the moment she instigated a mannequin challenge… because she is Ellen.
