Surly and not sorry? Justin Bieber appeared to balk at his fans' zealous devotion on Monday, as he implored his devotees to refrain from drowning him out at a gig in Birmingham
Pausing during his performance, the first of two in the city, the Sorry singer addressed his fans - asking them to let him speak and sing without them drowning him out.
During an interlude as the crowd began to scream again a slightly surly Justin gave his fans a light dressing down.
In a video captured by one of his fans, @purposesbieb, the singer strides about the stage before telling his fans:
'If, when I'm speaking, you guys could not scream at the top of your lungs. Is that cool with you guys?
'The screaming is just so obnoxious': Taking to the stage at the Birmingham Barclaycard Arena, the 22-year-old pop star was forced to address the 'obnoxious' screaming crowd
'The screaming is just so obnoxious.'
And making sure that his message was drilled home, he added: 'If we could just scream after the songs? Enjoy the songs, then scream, screaming is awesome. Screaming is fun.'
But it seems that some fans thought the Canadian pop star's behaviour verged on the diva-like.
Let the man speak: Pausing during his performance, the first of two in the city, the Sorry singer addressed his fans - asking them to let him speak and sing without them drowning him out
A message: He diplomatically ended his gripe, saying: 'If we could just scream after the songs? Enjoy the songs, then scream, screaming is awesome. Screaming is fun'
One concertgoer told Amanda Boland, 26, said she felt he was 'disrespectful' towards the crowd.
She told the Birmingham Mail: 'I really felt as though Justin was disrespectful to his fans.
'Not so much us, more so the young girls who queued for a long time to be at the front.
'I really felt as though Justin was disrespectful to his fans': however one fan labelled him 'disrespectful' for his words
'We recorded the fans screaming because we didn't think we'd heard anything quite as loud at a concert before... and what we ended up recording, to our surprise, was Bieber complaining because his fans were 'like two feet away', and they just 'needed to find another way to express themselves!'"
However other fans hit-back in defense of the singer, saying 'he wasn't being rude at all'.
@sarahkauser_ wrote: 'Justin wasn't rude.. I hope no one screams around me coz then I'll show them what rude is! @justinbieber lol [sic].'
And @NothingLikeMJ added: 'I don't get why people are so mad. Nothing rude about this!'
Justin is currently on a nationwide tour of the UK and Ireland after a residency at the London O2 as part of his Purpose Wold Tour.
He was in the right! However other fans hit-back in defense of the singer, saying 'he wasn't being rude at all'
