Rising teen pop singer Madison McWilliams provides fans with a timely reminder to live life to the fullest as she and her fun-loving friends frolic in her new video for "Smell the Roses." The 14-year-old performer singer, multi-instrumentalist, and actress first enchanted listeners in 2015 with her cover of Nina Simone's iconic "Feeling Good," generating over 1 million views on Facebook. We got a chance to speak with Madison about her career and her plans for the future.

What is currently in rotation music wise on your own phone? What do you like to listen to for inspiration?
I really like to listen to The Beatles because their music is so thoughtful and timeless. Top 40 is also fun to listen to, especially DJ Snake.
Do you write your own music? Tell us a bit about how you came to pen "Smell the Roses."
I love writing music and I am a cowriter on all of my songs. Smell the Roses is about living in the moment and forgetting about the bad things in life.
How do kids at school treat you as a musician and pop star?
I have a close group of friends that are very supportive of me, which allows me to not be bothered by anyone who isn't.
You have a girl power vibe going on, what would you like to tell the girls of your generation?
I want to tell girls that they can be whatever they want to be. You can accomplish anything with hard work and determination.
You grew up in the theater, what would you say was your favorite performance?
My favorite performance was definitely my first leading role. When I was about seven or eight, I was cast as Annie in Annie! in a local production in my hometown of Austin, TX.
Did you get to sneak any of your real life friends into your video?
Yes! Four of my friends are in the video. Can you guess who?
How involved in your career is your family?
My family has always been very supportive of me, especially my mom. They are not very familiar with the music side of things, but they are always there for me when I need them.
So singing or theater, which one do you find harder and which one more fulfilling?
I enjoy both singing and acting! Singing is definitely my first love, but acting is a close second.
Dance off between you and Justin Bieber, who wins?
Justin Bieber, he's had so much more experience.
You are from Austin so Dallas Cowboys or Houston Texans?
I'm not a big NFL kind of person, but I love going to the University of Texas football games. Hook'em horns!
Tell us about your work at the Children's Hospital?
Performing at Dell Children's Hospital is extremely rewarding for me personally. The kids are so amazing and strong. I am proud to have the opportunity to know them.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I hope to be inspiring people to be the best versions of themselves, if through music or anything else.
