Justin Bieber has an alarming warning for Ed Sheeran – telling him not to destroy his own career by going off the rails.
The 22-year-old What Do You Mean singer is no stranger to controversy having come close to scuppering his own career numerous times over the years via abandoning monkeys, to Driving Under the Influence, and urinating in public.
But the star expressed a concern that ginger-haired Love Yourself co-writer Ed, 25, could follow a similar path.
'Me and Ed aren't super close but he is someone I consider a friend,' Justin said during an appearance on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge on Thursday.
'He is very, very talented. We just have to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid, to mess it all up,' he said somewhat ominously.
Radio host Nick Grimshaw, 32, confronted Justin over what he could possibly mean, and the star immediately back tracked saying he didn't know how Ed could self-destruct.
Last year, members of Ed's family expressed concerns about his relationship with drink and drugs, with his cousin Jethro Sheeran telling The Mirror he was 'worried about him'.
Prior to this, Ed had confessed he has scared himself by over-indulging in drink and drugs, saying it happens: 'when I'm under an immense amount of stress.'
Ed Sheeran's reps have been contacted for comment.
