Justin Bieber Asks Fans 'Can You Guys Stop' Over Filming, Gets Mistaken For 'You Guys Suck'

Justin Bieber fans already know the media rarely reports fairly and accurately on the superstar and mostly looks for negative angles in stories.

The latest example? A slew of tabloid-led media mistakenly claiming the 22-year-old singer told a group of fans in Norway "You guys suck," when — in fact — Bieber actually said, "Can you guys stop?"

At the time, the "Sorry" singer was in Oslo, Norway and had just wrapped his "Purpose World Tour" show at Telenor Arena.

As seen on the fans' video, a few excitable Beliebers filmed Bieber when they called out to the heartthrob when they spotted him walking around with his crew after his concert. It is possible the group had been following the singer for some time.

A tired-looking Biebs then asked the fans, "Can you guys stop?"

The Beliebers replied with a disappointed chorus of "Aw."

While the audio on the Norwegian fans video isn't totally clear, a source connected to Bieber's team has clarified the matter.

The insider confirmed to the Inquisitr that the Canadian did not say "You guys suck," but asked the fans "Can you guys stop" because they were filmed him without his consent.

The source added it was "unfortunate" that media outlets did not contact Bieber's reps first before inaccurately misinterpreting the footage with sensationalist headlines.

Notably, in May the singer revealed via Instagram that he feels like a "zoo animal" when fans take pictures of him in his downtime. It's clear he also feels being filmed without his permission is also invasive.

Check out the video below, which was reposted by numerous Twitter users.

It's not the first time Bieber's words or intentions have been misquoted or misconstrued by fans and media.

Back in April, Bieber, who is a Christian, Instagrammed a photo of himself resting in bed his puppy, Esther. His caption read "And on the seventh day."

Cue UK tabloids leading the charge of media outlets claiming the singer was "comparing himself to God," rather than simply citing the Bible in his caption.

Bieber subsequently posted an indignant denial on Instagram, and added to his original caption, "And on the 7th day… AND MY GOODNESS I WAS MAKING A REFERENCE," Bieber blasted. "I AM NOT COMPARING MYSELF TO GOD IM THE FARTHEST THING FROM!!!!"

The singer continued, "IT WAS MY WAY OF SAYING HOW IMPORTANT REST IS…WHEN THERE IS NOTHING TO PICK AT ME FOR YOU MAKE SOMETHING OUT OF NOTHING — BUT I GET IT YOU NEED RATINGS AND TRACTION [FOR] YOUR BLOGS. But if truthfully if you were offended it was in no way shape or form me comparing myself to the most high."

In August, tabloid media and some of the pop star's famously hormonal female fans convinced themselves that an indecipherable comment in a holiday Instagram video Bieber posted was a sexual remark.

It was, of course, nothing of the sort.

Reasons why mainstream media's reporting on Bieber is frequently skewed negative, irrational, exaggerated, and fabricated are simple. Painting the singer in a negative light is lucrative because negativity sells and appeals to the lowest common denominator of the general public and hyper-competitive fandoms.

So, while some stars can walk barefoot on the red carpet at a film festival without having their sanity questioned, the Biebs was accused of being on the brink of a meltdown for walking barefoot in a park and getting a minuscule face tattoo.

There are now countless examples of the media's clickbait-chasing Bieber-narrative, which tends to presume the worst about the singer, often without cause.

Not surprisingly, the media mostly ignores positive stories about Bieber, such as his long-standing work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the millions he has donated to the non-profit, school building organization Pencils of Promise, and other charitable contributions.
