Selena Gomez Rejected Justin Bieber In March, But It Wasn't Just Because Of His Bad Behavior

When Selena Gomez rejected Justin Bieber's attempts to get back together Jelena fans assumed she was tired of his bad behavior. And that's true. But Gomez was also dealing with depression, anxiety and panic attacks stemming from lupus. And she understandably had no interest in adding yet another challenge in her life.

Lupus is stressful enough. And Gomez knew that dating Bieber always adds drama. She was tired of the added chaos in her life, which meant giving Bieber the boot when he tried to rekindle their romance in March.

Of course, Gomez's lupus diagnosis isn't the only reason she is moving on from Justin Bieber. It's just another thing that tipped the scales against him. As she struggled with depression, anxiety and panic attacks, she realized that dealing with Bieber's antics wasn't exactly appealing.

Selena Gomez knew she couldn't handle her lupus diagnosis and drama with Justin Bieber at the same time.

Gomez also knew that it would be hard to focus on her health while traveling around the world and recording new music. That is why she is taking some time for herself over the next year.

 "I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off," she told People in a statement. "Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues."
