A Massachusetts singer is suing Justin Bieber for allegedly ripping off part of her song

Fresh off an eventful trip to Boston and an Instagram post full of existential questions, Justin Bieber is being sued.

TMZ reports that indie singer and Scituate native Casey Dienel, whose stage name is White Hinterland, has filed a lawsuit against Justin Bieber for copyright infringement. She is accusing Bieber of using a vocal riff from her song "Ring the Bell" in his song "Sorry." Dienel reportedly also names Skrillex, who produced Bieber's song, and the song's writers in the suit.

Here's Dienel's song, "Ring the Bell."

"Like most artists that sample music, Bieber could have licensed my song for use in 'Sorry.' But he chose not to contact me," Dienel wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday. "After the release of 'Sorry,' my lawyers sent Bieber a letter regarding the infringement, but Bieber's team again chose to ignore me. I offered Bieber's team an opportunity to have a private dialogue about the infringement, but they refused to even acknowledge my claim, despite the obviousness of the sample."

Dienel concluded her post by saying she was left with "no other option" except to sue.
