Selena Gomez mum following ex Justin Bieber's engagement to Hailey Baldwin

Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin got engaged over the weekend, just mere months after Bieber and Selena Gomez split up again, apparently for good this time.

Gomez's reaction to the news has been, well, to have no reaction. She's been silent, but a source told People that she and Bieber haven't had any contact since they split shortly after Bieber's birthday in March.

"They haven't spoken in months," the source said. "She hasn't been talking about him since they ended things again earlier this year."

Gomez hasn't exactly been hiding out. She hung out in New York with friends over the weekend, and former assistant Theresa Marie Mingus posted a picture of the two of them catching some rays on a boat.

"She's recording new music and and gearing up for new projects," according to the source. "She hasn't been thinking about Justin. She's in a great place and is very happy."

Gomez and Bieber took their turn as pop music's "it" couple starting in 2011. They were on-again, off-again for years, but got back together following Gomez's split from R&B singer The Weeknd last October.

According to People, they were seen riding bicycles together, kissing at his hockey games and attending Bieber's father's wedding in Jamaica.

But their rocky past made things difficult during the reconciliation, according to sources. Gomez's mother, Mandy Teefey, was among those who voiced concern over the relationship.

"It was never a healthy situation for Selena and Justin," People's source said.

Another source, a friend of Bieber's, said, "Their relationship was always very complex and complicated. It was just too much baggage."

"It wasn't possible for them to have a future," Bieber's friend added.

Bieber, 24, and Baldwin, 21, got engaged on Saturday while vacationing in the Bahamas. Bieber popped the question in a crowded restaurant, according to MSN.

"Justin's security told everyone to put their phones away because something special was about to happen. They say Justin then proposed in front of everyone," said a witness.

Bieber and Baldwin had been together for a month, but had dated previously and have been friends since they were in their mid teens, say reports.
