More than two hours had passed since Andre De Grasse entered the media carwash, moving from a big scrum to a series of one-on-one interviews. He would sit down with the CBC downstairs, then move to meet with another network upstairs, followed by two newspapers, a magazine and a website.
The 23-year-old finally settled on a set of bleachers, looking out onto the activity below at the Toronto Track & Field Centre, at York University. He had begun the afternoon outside, greeted with an ovation from dozens of children competing in a high school meet.
"I'll probably watch a little bit more here," he said, motioning back toward the meet outside. "And then I'll go home and take a nap."
