Her new song says it all.
Selena Gomez dropped her first song of 2018 — and fans have a very good reason for being excited about it.
The single is titled "Back To You," and there is no way it isn't about her on-and-off-again love with Justin Bieber. It's basically about feeling like you want to be with someone when you're already with someone else.
Here are the lyrics:
"Let a couple years water down how I'm feeling about you/ And every time we talk/ Every single word builds up to this moment/ And I gotta convince myself I don't want it/ Even though I do."
The chorus is perhaps the most telling of her time with The Weeknd and the rumors that swirled of her not being over Justin.
"I wanna hold you when I'm not supposed to/ When I'm lying close to someone else/ You're stuck in my head and I can't get you out."
Selena teased the song on May 4 when she posted a photo of herself with her back against a vanity mirror.
The caption read: "I wanna hold you when I'm not supposed to."
The song will be featured on the second season of 13 Reasons Why.
"My next album has been forever in the making," Selena told Harper's Bazaar in February. "When people ask me why, I'm honest about it: It's because I haven't been ready. I mean, point-blank, I don't feel confident enough in where my music is yet. If that takes 10 years, then it takes 10 years. I don't care. Right now I just want to be super intentional with all of the things I'm doing."
