Nick Grimshaw has had an eventful few years at Radio 1.
He began on the breakfast show six years ago, and in that time has got up to a lot of hobnobbing with his celebrity pals, while creating some of his own headlines along the way.
Nick's leaving quite the legacy behind him as he moves off to drive time to be replaced by Greg James – and Greg has act to follow judging by some of the things Nick has done in the last six years. He's got 'til September to figure out how to top this lot.
He once refused to promote Rihanna's album
Nick controversially decided to drop Rihanna's album Unapologetic from his playlist after the singer refused an interview back in 2012.
He'd started off the day by tweeting: 'Moorning!!! On air from 6.30am. with some BIG news on a BIG popstar.'
Not long after he added: 'RE: Big popstar news. Scrap that. :(. *throws tantrum*.'
He then added: 'I'm gonna have a tantrum because it's my favourite pop star. We're not even mentioning her. We're not gonna promote it now.
'She ruined my week. Nice one Rihanna.'
He was called a 'total nob' for branding Robbie Williams irrelevant
Nick also refused to once play Robbie Williams' new hit at the time, Candy, claiming the singer – then 37- was too hold and irrelevant for his audience.
'I don't know if he's now for a Radio 1 audience. I've never listened to a Robbie Williams song, but I really like him,' he said at the time.
'To 13- and 14-year-olds, he's not relevant – they've got One Direction. I liked Take That when I was little, but I'm not little anymore.'
His comments garnered backlash from DJ Neil Fox, who tweeted: 'Brainless @grimmers @R1Breakfast claims @robbiewilliams is too old & irrelevant for today's teenagers! Some advice.. Stop being a total nob.'
He saw the biggest ratings drop in Radio 1 history
June to August last year Nick was pulling in just 4.93million, down from 5.5million listeners a week, which was the lowest ever recorded ratings for the show.
He lost more than 550,000 listeners in the space of just three months according to new data from radio audience body Rajar.
He said he was paid to get rid of older listeners
Nick justified the drop by saying they were trying to get rid of their older listeners, and that he'd been effectively paid to lose listeners.
'We've lost older listeners and that was the job,' he said. 'It sounds like a weird thing to say but, basically, the BBC Trust pays this money to Radio 1 every year to appeal to 15 to 29-year-olds.'
He joked he slept with Harry Styles
Nick is best mates with Harry Styles and has had the One Direction lad on speed dial since he started at Radio 1, and fans of the show have long since shipped the two. But one of his jokes got out of hand once when he hinted he had slept with Hazza during a live Periscope Q&A at 4.25am.
A fan asked if he'd ever sleep with Harry, and before Nick could answer, his friend Fifi joked the question was aimed at her and claimed Harry wasn't her type.
without saying a word, Nick gave the camera a knowing wink and a nod, and thus causing a fandom meltdown as they thought that was confirmation.
He interviewed Cheryl while she was on the toilet
Nick was actually interviewing Liam Payne, when he asked a question about Cheryl and Liam tried to get the answer. Only, she was on the toilet. When she emerged, Liam could be heard asking her if it was a number one or number two.
He got in bed with Justin Bieber
One of Nick's finest moments, interviewing Justin Bieber from his bed.
The pair got under the duvet together for a segment of his show, and Bieber looked suitably nervous of the unusual location for their chat.
On another occasion, back in 2015, Justin accidentally left his mobile phone at the Radio 1 studios, so Nick took the opportunity to fill up his photo album with selfies – including one of him holding his number.
'I couldn't leave it at the studios because there's no receptionist or anything at the weekend,' he explained of discovering the phone. 'So I called the label and the people he works with but they're obviously super busy and weren't answering.
'We were all like 'What should we do with it?' Now, I had promised the team that we would all go down to the pub after work on Friday as we all needed a few pints. So the only thing I could do was take the phone with me and wait for Justin's people to get in touch.'
He then proceeded to take a load of selfies and videos for Justin to find when he got it back.
'For some reason, I thought it would be fun to take a few selfies. Then I thought, 'Ooh maybe I'll write my number down on a piece of paper and take a video of myself asking him to call. But it gets worse,' he said.
'I then decided to record a video of myself singing his song What Do You Mean? Now, I couldn't delete any of this so when I gave the phone back, he would have seen all of this on his phone."
He joke about acid on X Factor
Another joke that went awry, Nick made an unsavoury joke about the cup of water Sharon threw over Louis Walsh once being a cup of acid.
Bad taste on it's own, but particularly awkward when your boss, AKA Simon Cowell, is an ambassador for acid attack victim Katie Piper's charity.
The talent show judge was asked about throwing water over Simon, to which he replied: 'That is always a classic… or acid.'
He later issued an apology to The Mirror, which said: 'Nick's comment about Simon was an off-the-cuff remark and in hindsight he fully appreciates that it was unacceptable.'
He interviewed One Direction when Harry couldn't talk
Not really controversial, but a bit of a highlight nonetheless.
