Carol M. Baldwin's granddaughter Hailey Baldwin is opening up about how the 2016 election and President Donald Trump have torn her famous family apart.
The 21-year-old model and TV personality's father, Stephen Baldwin, is a conservative actor and a former "Celebrity Apprentice" contestant who supported the Trump campaign early on and then celebrated his successful bid for the White House.
Hailey, on the other hand, and her actor uncles -- the Baldwin brothers -- have never supported Trump. She voted for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton; Alec Baldwin won an Emmy for skewering the real estate mogul-turned-politician on "Saturday Night Live"; Billy Baldwin backed Clinton and claimed Trump made advances on his wife; and Daniel Baldwin mocked Trump with help from Alec on a Syracuse radio show.
Stephen Baldwin has called Alec's "SNL" impression "nasty" and revealed in December that he hadn't spoken to Alec since the 2016 election, shortly after he wrote on Twitter that their late father would be "ashamed" and "disgusted" by the media.
"If our father were alive today... he's smack in the side of the head for supporting Donald Trump," Billy responded in a tweet.
Hailey Baldwin, who currently hosts "Drop the Mic" on TBS and recently emceed the Billboard Music Awards, told The Sunday Times that the situation became "very hurtful" for her and her family.
"I love my father, he's an amazing dad, but we so strongly disagreed on (the election)," she told the British newspaper. "He and my sister [Alaia] strongly disagreed on it. My sister's husband, like everyone on our side, just doesn't agree with him. We don't talk about it now. It's not worth the argument."
Stephen, the youngest Baldwin brother, told The Hollywood Reporter in December that it was Alec's "choice" to stop speaking to him. However, he told THR that he thinks Alec will eventually support Trump once he gets tax breaks promised by the president.
Hailey Baldwin also told the Times that she's not dating Shawn Mendes, despite being photographed with the singer-songwriter less than two years after her relationship with Justin Bieber.
"I am single," she said. "The dating pool is small... It's rare to find somebody that has the same ideas and morals as me. I have found people like that before, though, which is refreshing."
Stephen Baldwin, whose mother Carol lives in Camillus, was in Syracuse last week for a charity cooking event to support the Hillside Agencies.
