Hailey Baldwin Dishes on the Status of Her Relationship with Ex Justin Bieber

Sounds like Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber are totally over that post-breakup awkwardness. Now they can both go back to being BFFs!

JB and Hailey may be superstars in their own right, but they're still human just like us. The two buds were super good friends before they started dating, but that doesn't mean they were the exception to that awkward post-breakup feeling. In fact, the 21-year-old opened up to UK newspaper The Times and revealed that her friendship and relationship with the Biebs actually changed when they both made the mutual decision to end things romantically and just be friends.

"Justin and I were friends for a long time," the model explained to the outlet. "I met him when I was really young and he was one of my best friends. Everybody knows that at a certain point in time that turned into something else, but that just happens when you're 18, 19. It was what it was. We went through a long period of time when we weren't friends. We didn't speak for quite some time and there was a lot of weirdness that went on [but] we've moved past that."

Hailey continued to say that while being a part of a high-profile relationship was super weird and that the whole experience made herself and the singer both realize how great their platonic friendship is. "It brought both of us to the realization that we just work much better as friends," she said. "He's somebody I really cherish. Now it's a very mature situation. It's good."

Well, now that the mystery behind JB and Hailey's post-breakup relationship has been solved, it's time to settle those are-they-aren't-they dating speculations between the supermodel and of course, Shawn Mendes.

Just a recap for those of you who have been out of the gossip game for a hot minute, it's been widely rumored that Hailey and Shawn are an item for quite some time. However, when the 2018 Met Gala came around, these speculations were seemingly confirmed when they attended the gala together.

Unfortunately, fans who ship Shailey were in for a great disappointment because after fashion's biggest night of the year, the "Lost in Japan" singer told E! News that he's currently single. And now, the model is echoing the same sentiments.

In the same interview we mentioned earlier with The Times UK, Hales opened up about her relationship with Shawn and sadly, it's super platonic. "We hang out and he's super-lovely and a very, very nice young gentleman," she said. "But I am single. The dating pool is small. It's rare to find somebody that has the same ideas and morals as me. I have found people like that before, though, which is refreshing."

Well, we guess that's that!
