When your childhood sweetheart turns into an international superstar, it's easy to lose touch.
But after years apart, one Stratford woman finally got the chance to reconnect with the young man she once considered her first-ever boyfriend – none other than Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber.
Cherissa Kittmer, 24, met up with Bieber earlier this week while vacationing in California, her father says, the first time the two school-age friends had seen each other in nearly a decade.

The Thursday meet-up was brokered over social media.
"Justin knew she was in LA and invited her to fly down to Coachella with him and his two friends," Mike Kittmer, Cherissa's father said.
"Justin met her at a private airport, they jumped onto his jet, and then they went to Indio."
Both headed to the southern California city to attend the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival – the latest chapter in a long friendship for the two Stratford natives.
Bieber and Kittmer both met at Bedford Public School before attending St. Michael Catholic Secondary School, Kittmer's father said.
"She hung out with him quite a bit at Bedford Public School in Grade 5 and 6. They played a lot of co-ed volleyball together," he said.

Though the pair remained close through most of high school, Bieber moved to Atlanta when he was 15-years-old to pursue his music career, Kittmer's father said. The two fell out of touch.
The younger Kittmer had been working in Vancouver in marketing. With the goal of moving to California in the future, she was visiting friends the state and started chatting with Bieber online.
Kittmer's father said Bieber and his daughter have reconnected as friends, but is hoping they might see more of each other after the trip. He's happy Bieber took the time to visit with one of his old hometown friends.
"Justin definitely remembers where he came from and his humble beginnings in Stratford," he said.
