The Davis Schools Foundation is putting the "fun" in fundraiser with its 2018 Celebrity Waiter Gala, planned for Saturday, Feb. 3, from 5:30 to 10 p.m. at the UC Davis Conference Center, 550 Alumni Lane.
The Celebrity Waiter Gala is really 20 simultaneous dinner parties occurring within the larger event. Guests treat themselves to a tasty dinner — along with a selection of wine, beer and specialty beverages — as they socialize with old friends and make new ones.
What makes this event different, however, are the celebrity waiters, who compete for tips as they try to outdo each other.
Tables can outbid other guests or tables for extra amenities during the evening, including premium wines, handcrafted appetizers, chef specials and VIP experiences and raffles. Every winning bid is a tip for the table's celebrity waiter. At the end of the evening, the celebrity waiter with the most tips earns his or her table a special prize.
Your waiter also can earn tips by donning that crazy hat you brought or dancing a hula or singing an a cappella version of Justin Bieber's latest hit. There are plenty of opportunities to get creative.
The group of fun-loving and dedicated celebrity waiters includes Davis City Council members, Davis Board of Education members and senior school district administrators, plus local business and real estate leaders.
"And while you might win, the real winners here are the Davis public schools," says Ryan Davis, event co-chair. Last year's event raised more than $45,000.
Tickets, at $150 per person, are in limited supply. Email your interest to [email protected]
