Singer Luis Fonsi has racked up four Grammy nominations thanks to the song's success, but what did he do before Despacito? Here's what we know...
Who is Luis Fonsi?
Luis is a Puerto Rican singer-songwriter, whose full name is Luis Alfonso Rodríguez López-Cepero.
He was born on April 15, 1978 - and moved to Florida, USA, as a kid.
At school in Orlando, he sang in a band called Big Guys with future *NSync member Joey Fatone.
The talented youngster got a full scholarship for Florida State University's School of Muisc - and travelled all over the world with the college choir.
Despacito, featuring Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber, is his most popular song - after remaining on the top spot for 16 consecutive weeks.
He's now recorded a duet with Demi Lovato, called Echame la Culpa, and has also dabbled in acting in the past.
Luis played the lead's best mate in 1992 film Like Water For Chocolate and has appeared in Nickelodeon series Taina.
He also appeared in Broadway show Forever Tango for two weeks, in August 2013.
Is Luis Fonsi married?
Luis has been married twice, firstly to Puerto Rican soap opera actress Adamari Lopez.
He was forced to cancel an international tour mid-way through when Adamari, who he'd been dating for two years, was diagnosed with cancer in 2005.
She's been in remission since 2006, and the couple married in their home country in June of the same year - with Luis' school pal Joey attending the wedding.
They divorced in November 2010, and Luis had a child with Spanish model Agueda Lopez in December 2011.
He and Agueda live together in Miami with daughter Mikaela and their son Rocco, who was born in December 2016.
The couple married in September 2014.
