SELENA Gomez's mum has posting a heartbreaking tribute to the daughter she miscarried in 2011 - hours after being hospitalised due to a reported row with her daughter over her romance with Justin Bieber.
Mandy Teefey, 41, paid tribute to a lost daughter called Scarlett via Instagram, explaining to fans that December 17 "will never be the same", and revealing that she and her family carried out an elaborate ritual to remember her.
TMZ claimed earlier today that Mandy got so "worked up" about her daughter's rekindled romance with her ex Biebs that she needed treatment.
Now today the mum-0f-three, also parent to Gracie, four, and Tori, three has written online: "Thank you to all the fans who honored our Scarlett yesterday.
"Dec 17th will never be the same, but we decide to celebrate her by writing her letters on red balloons and releasing them. Now the 17th is intertwined with the wrap of S2 [series two of TV show 13 Reasons Why, on which she and Selena are executive producers].
"So, she was there in spirit as always. A moms love for their children is pretty fierce."
She concluded: "In order of my girls, Selena, Scarlett and Gracie. Family is what matters, blood or not, #family13 made me smile and feel loved when so needed and they didn't know.
"Then, I came home to [Selena's stepdad] Brian and [her daughter] Gracie to send our love to Scarlett.
"Fans, I want you to know you are family because I have a huge family and you are the only ones who remember! XO forever."
Alongside the message, Mandy posted a picture of herself when pregnant, with Selena holding her stomach, as well as an old image of herself when she became a mum for the first time.
Mandy made her miscarriage public knowledge back in 2011, the year which Selena began her original romance with Justin Bieber, which went on for three years.
The moment of remembrance comes hours after TMZ claims Mandy and Selena were at loggerheads over her "serious" relationship with "vile" Bieber.
TMZ reports that police visited Mandy at a LA hotel to do a welfare check, at a family member's request, last week.
She was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital for voluntary treatment – not under a 5150 hold.
A 5150 hold is a section of the California Welfare and Institutions Code, which authorises a qualified officer or clinician to involuntarily confine a person suspected to have a mental disorder that makes them a danger to themselves, a danger to others, or gravely disabled.
Sources reportedly told the website that Mandy had a "heated" conversation with her daughter and was shocked to learn how serious they are.
Selena is believed to have told her mum that they were having couple's therapy - a sign that they are really trying to make it work.
Selena, 25, and Justin, 23 - who dated on and off from 2011 to 2015 - have recently reconciled followed her split from The Weeknd.
Their reunion came after she underwent a kidney transplant in secret earlier this year.
The pair have been almost inseparable since, regularly attending church services together.
It was previously reported that Justin wanted to "prove" to Selena's family that he has changed.
A source told People magazine: "Justin is aware Selena's family is not thrilled they are hanging out. They think he caused Selena a lot of grief. Justin hopes he can prove to them that he has changed.
"He has changed a lot in the past few months. He is a very different person. They have a lot to talk about and are having fun catching up."
It comes after a member of Selena's family slammed Justin as a "vile human".
A member of Selena's family said: "Justin is a vile human and will never be accepted by us. As long as she is even speaking to him in any way, it is not only disrespectful to everyone around her, it is disrespectful to herself."
