Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez did not talk about "eloping" after getting back together. They aren't planning a big wedding, either. Gossip Cop can set the record straight.
As we previously busted, this week's Life & Style cover story falsely announced Gomez is a "pregnant bride." The article alleged she and Bieber want to marry sooner than later, and speculated she could already be pregnant. Gossip Cop squashed the report, and even pointed out how the tabloid photoshopped a picture to dupe readers into thinking it had a new photo of the on-and-off couple. HollywoodLife apparently didn't realize the gossip magazine couldn't be trusted or didn't care, because the webloid picked up several of the unfounded allegations.
The site quotes the outlet as contending Bieber and Gomez are "making plans to get married and start a family as soon as possible," and further cites the publication's purported source, who claimed, "Selena's health scare has given her more reason to live than ever. She doesn't want to waste another precious second." From there, the blog copies the allegations about a wedding, asserting, "It's also not too surprising and Justin and Selena 'had discussed eloping.'" But since the tabloid's supposed tipster went on to claim Gomez had decided on a big wedding, HollywoodLies, as it's nicknamed, opines, "Sounds amazing!"
And though the webloid gives a "hm, we'll see" as to whether the pair will have two ceremonies, one in L.A. and one in Texas, as the article suggests, it still insists based on the magazine's story, "Whether they end up eloping, or planning a gigantic Hollywood wedding, they'll make it official either way." Interestingly, though, in picking up this report, HollywoodLies left out all the claims about Gomez possibly being "pregnant already" and choosing baby names with Bieber. Did the site believe some of the contentions, but not others? In that case, why spread the questionable information at all?
And since the online publication so often claims to have "sources" and "insiders" for its "Jelena" "exclusives," why didn't it fact-check the Life & Style allegations before running them? It seems that, as per usual, the blog just wanted to capitalize on traffic related to Bieber and Gomez, regardless of whether what it was posting was true. But Gossip Cop is here to say the article isn't true. The "eloping" and wedding claims were made up, just as the "pregnant bride" ones were, too. And now HollywoodLies has only contributed to the spread of fake news. Remember that the next time the webloid is pretending to have another Bieber and Gomez "exclusive."
