LIONEL Richie has "begged Kris Jenner for help" over his 19-year-old daughter Sofia's relationship with Scott Disick, 34.

It comes after he admitted he's "scared to death" by the teen's romance with the lothario.

Scott, who has three children with Kris's daughter Kourtney Kardashian, and Sofia went public with their relationship last week.

They set tongues wagging as they were pictured kissing passionately while on holiday in Mexico.

Kourtney was said to be "heartbroken" after Scott took Sofia to the villa where they first met.

Now The Sun Online can exclusively reveal that Lionel has contacted Kardashian matriarch Kris for help.

A source said: "When Sofia dated Justin Bieber, she was 17 so Lionel could threaten to cut off her allowance.

"But now she's an adult - and a successful model - he has less leverage.

"He and Sofia are very close, so he doesn't want to push her away, but as he said - what dad wants their daughter dating Scott Disick?

"He's been talking to Kris Jenner to find out what Scott's really like, and begging for her help.

"She's reassuring him that Scott is a good person. The last thing he wants is Sofia going off the rails.

"Although, Nicole went through a wild faze and she's turned out stellar, so he's trying to be optimistic.

"But he's worried, he hates seeing her get negative publicity because of who she's dating."

Speaking to Us Weekly, Lionel, 68, told of his misgivings about the romance.

He said: "Have I been in shock? I'm the dad, come on."

When asked if he was happy about it, he added: "I'm scared to death - are you kidding me?"
